Viewer discretion is advised. A Marriage Proposal, directed by Eva Mendoza A Marriage Proposal by Anton Chekov is a classical play that was originally performed in Russia in 1890. It became popular with both the country folk and the royal class, despite the fact that Chekov himself hated the farce. The version you will see today was translated to English in the 1930s, but my version is set in the 1950s. This was a deliberate choice to showcase how a story of love, family, and marriage is a piece that can be viewed at all times, set in any year. The version that we present to you tonight is a cross between a classic russian play and a vaudeville variety show. Vaudeville was a popular style of theater that would later become broadway, the true birth of american theater. Because of this stylistic directing choice you will hear live music accompaniment with our show tonight; two themes that tie in both the show’s Russian heritage as well as a new American vision.  An Awakening, directed by Ava Barnes This play is an adaptation of a short story from Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson — my second favorite book of all time. While the novel focuses on each character's struggle to overcome loneliness and isolation in pre-industrial America, I chose to set the story in the early 1970’s. This choice reflects both my personal aesthetic tastes and proves that Anderson’s novel is timeless. The stories told within “The Book of the Grotesque” are universal. My favorite part about bringing this text to life has been getting to place emphasis on the psychological insights of characters rather than the plot. Where’d I put my Sanity?, directed by Gavin Lampasone I wrote ‘Where’d I Put My Sanity’ to write something engaging, fun, and thought provoking. I want there to be more questions than answers. Like there are many truths and different ways to look at it. But don’t be fooled, there is only one truth, it’s like a puzzle.
